About the Founder
Sage Shepard, founder of Plutopia, is an award-winning creator whose work spans animation, music, and digital storytelling. He is also a longtime trusted advisor to Wave XR, a company pioneering the future of virtual entertainment through live, interactive, and immersive virtual concerts and experiences, including collaborations with artists such as Calvin Harris and Justin Bieber.
As a musician, Sage performed under the moniker Teflon Sega, becoming one of the world’s most recognized virtual R&B avatar artists. Using motion-capture technology, he pioneered state-of-the-art live virtual performances streamed directly from his home studio, helping redefine what independent digital performers could achieve. The project amassed more than 150 million Spotify streams, earned a #2 viral-charting single, and featured virtual performances alongside The Weeknd.
At the backbone of Plutopia is its massive social ecosystem, where Sage actively develops story worlds, tests pilot concepts, creates branded entertainment, and launches new products directly to audiences in real time. Across platforms, Plutopia has grown to more than 9 million followers, giving Sage a constant pulse on internet culture, emerging algorithms, and the rapidly shifting zeitgeist of digital entertainment.
Sage has earned a Webby Award for animation, a Billboard Music Award as a singer and songwriter, and an MTV VMA, among other accolades. Constantly reinventing himself, he has always pushed the edge of what’s possible in entertainment. Now, with the rise of AI and next-generation creative tools, Sage sees this moment as the most exciting era yet for storytelling.
